This is a MSHA-compliant, I-CAB recognized safety training course intended for new miners at surface mines under Part 46. Topics covered in this training include statutory rights, responsibilities, protective equipment, site awareness, site traffic, ground conditions, heavy equipment, electrical safety, confined spaces, respiratory diseases, explosives, fire warning, emergency medical, escape and evacuation. This course meets the classroom requirement for occupational safety training. It also includes a proficiency checklist that employers can use to perform a practical evaluation. Upon completion, trainees will be able to download and print a certificate or wallet card to show that they have completed

**Although trainees will be able to download and print a certificate or wallet card to show that they have completed this training, please note that this certificate does not satisfy MSHA record-keeping requirements. The Competent Person must complete the MSHA Certificate of Training Form (5000-23) to ensure MSHA-compliance.
